Vacancy: Junior Accountant

Introduction:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join a high-performing team in the property development sector. This exciting role provides an opportunity to apply your accounting knowledge and skills, developed during your articles, while gaining valuable experience in financial reporting and management.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will support financial operations, ensure accuracy in reporting, and contribute to the efficiency of the finance department.

Requirements:

Minimum education required (Essential):

  • Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accounting or Financial Management degree

 Minimum Applicable Experience (Years):

  • Completed Articles (SAIPA/SAICA)

 Required Nature of Experience:

  • Practical experience in accounting processes during articles, including financial reporting and management
  • Familiarity with Sage Accounting Software

 Skills and Knowledge (Essential):

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial data management and analysis
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance regulations
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and efficiently to new financial processes and systems

 Other:

  • Fluent in English (Afrikaans proficiency is advantageous)
  • Own transport and valid driver’s license

 

Key Performance Areas, Weights and Objectives

Financial Reporting & Compliance (25%)

  • Maintain and update financial records using Sage Accounting Software.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.

General Ledger & Reconciliations (25%)

  • Perform bank, debtors, and creditors reconciliations.
  • Maintain accuracy in the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and adjustments.

Stakeholder Support & Collaboration (15%)

  • Work closely with the Chartered Accountant (CA) and finance team.
  • Provide financial support to internal departments.
  • Assist with ad hoc financial tasks and projects as needed

Accounts Payable & Receivable (15%)

  • Process invoices, payments, and expense claims.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Assist with supplier and customer account reconciliations.

Taxation & Compliance (10%)

  • Assist in VAT calculations, submissions, and tax compliance.
  • Prepare documentation for audits and financial reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to SARS regulations and filing deadlines.

Financial Systems & Process Improvement (10%)

  • Identify and suggest improvements in financial processes and internal controls.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within financial systems.


Salary:

Market Related (Competitive)

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Leave:

18 days of annual leave
